Sooooo hot.......
When I got up this morning and went to let the dogs out the humidity hit me square in the face!! At 7:00 it was horrible outside! We've had rain clouds around all day but they're not raining only contributing to the humidity! Yuck!! When the airconditioner comes on the windows fog up!!
Here's a bit of information about today's date (notice Fredonia's temperature)....... In 1913, Death Valley, California reached a broiling 134 degrees. This is the hottest temperature ever recorded in the United States. In comparison, the all-time record high temperatures in Kansas history are 121 degrees, set in Fredonia on July 18, 1936 and in Alton on July 24, 1936. In 1926, lightning struck an ammunition magazine in Northern New Jersey, igniting a red ball of fire that, in turn, triggered a series of explosions. The explosions destroyed every building within a half mile radius and sent debris airborne that landed as far as 22 miles away! Around $70 million damage resulted and 16 people were killed. In 1936, the horrific heat of the Dust Bowl Era invaded the Eastern U.S. when Martinsburg, West Virginia was torched by a temperature of 112 degrees; Phoenixville, Pennsylvania by a feverish 111; Runyon, New Jersey at 110; while Cumberland and Frederick, Maryland both reached 109. These temperatures set all-time record highs for each state. My sister-in-law's Dad was a young boy and he remembers working in that hot weather.

That was interesting Diana. I don't know what our records are for the state. All I know is I can stand the heat, but this humidity is horrible.

It's still bad today. The heat just sucks the air right out of you.

We're just staying inside. Our poor dogs get so hot when we let them out to potty. One big danger this time of year is letting them out in the run and forgetting to let them back in right away. There is no shade in our dog run. We have to be sooo careful!!

I asked Christian, my 12yo g-daughter to take my doggies out Saturday morning while I went to the store. She didn't catch the "bring them right back in" part and they were out for a couple hours. Luckily, they had some shade, but no water, so they were all panting AND MAD AT ME.

I understand that completely Sandy. I have to call my son after I'm gone awhile and tell him to check Joey's belly band and check the water supply for the dogs and puppies. He gets so interested in his games or whatever he is doing and forgets. If I'm gone for very long...I call every couple hours and then call and tell him I'm on my way home.
