Summer is winding down......

Even though it's still hot as HELL in Texas (and other parts of the country).

What I mean is that many schools start at the end of August and that (to me) signals the ending of summer and the transition into fall, although in Texas fall weather does not arrive till October.

I had a nice summer - two trips to Arkansas and I taught one summer class. It was a busy summer and seemed to fly by. I'm looking forward to the fall semester - I always look forward to school starting and a new crop of graduate nurses.

Gary's health is not very good right now - hopefully a medication change/tweek will help him to feel better. I wish he felt better right now, but maybe soon!

How about everyone else - I know that the summer did not turn out the way some of us expected - but what are your thoughts about summer OR the upcoming fall/winter???

Gayle the weather here has not been great, we barely hit 90 maybe one day. It rained a lot since April. I feel the summer didn't arrive. Yes it is great to be able to sleep at night without A/C. If this is a indication we are in for a tough winter...

I got away for a few days, but nothing exciting my money was spent on my dental work. That was more important. I am hoping to plan a winter vacation to visit my SIL who moved to Fla. in June..

I like the fall and am looking forward to it, who knows we may have an indian summer and it may be hot until Oct. it has happened in the past.

I hope that Gary feels better once they adjust his meds. I wll say a prayer for him..

Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Great thread Galye.

My favorite season has always been fall, but I have to admit that I'm not ready for it yet. Seems like summer has flown by and I haven't done anything fun at all. And now with Mom...seems like there isn't any time within the next couple weeks to do anything either.

My son starts Lincoln Tech on the 10th. I'm proud of him for wanting to go, but also very worried. He's going to drive 40 minutes one way everyday. He has to be there by 7:15 AM, but gets out at 1:15 PM. I'm worried already about him driving on the snowy roads.

I start picking up the kids again on the 12th. We have a meeting on the 7th and the 11th. As soon as registration is over I'll need to find out how many new kids I'll have and then work them into my route. I just hope my route hasn't change too much.

For the fall....I don't know what I'm expecting or wanting. I know I want peace....I've been so nervous and stressed about Mom and now will soon be stressed with Ricky driving so far everyday...especially in the winter. I'm trying to hand it over to God, but I'm having some difficulty and I'm not sure why.

I do hope Gary starts feeling better Gayle. I have you both in my prayers.

Since I'm not a big outdoor person and work in an office year-round, I don't really have a preference. I do prefer the coolness of Fall, at least the couple of days we get in Houston. Cold weather makes all my broken, old, arthritic bones hurt more.

I didn't get much done this Summer, seems like I babysit most weekends. I took a week vacation at Spring Break and had a blast with the g-kids. I'm saving my other two weeks vacation for Christmas time.

The summer was so hot and dry this year. If we could get just a little bit of rain it would be a relief. We did finally get away this past weekend and went to San Antonio. We had such a wonderful time until I got food poisoning Saturday night and ended up in the ER Sunday morning. This was only my third trip to the ER in my life (one of the previous trips was non-emergency, the walkin clinic sent me there for insurance reasons), so you know I was in bad shape, very dehydrated and sooo sick. I threw up last night again, but feel much better now, so our summer wasn't the best on record, but all in all, we are doing fine. Melissa and Garrett are moving into their apartment this weekend, so it will be more peaceful around the house very soon. We've enjoyed their visit, but you all know what I mean.

We're planning a driving trip for next summer to Washington DC and Baltimore. May go as far as Gettysburg. Our SIL has never been there, and it's been quite a while since we were there. We're hungry for the food and anxious to visit the Smithsonian again.

The fall means lots of work. Fishing tournaments, golf tournaments, baking fruitcakes for the holidays, shopping for gifts. The fishing and golf tournaments would be more fun if I weren't the host and responsible for so much. But if I didn't have this job, I wouldn't get to go at all, so have to count the blessings.

Hope everyone has a nice end of summer and a wonderful fall!!!!

Right now for us this time of year is slower than usual. Glen has some work to do but mostly we just let the crops grow. We've had some small rains so we're feeling pretty good about the crops so far. Beginning around October we'll start harvest, sometimes it's later it just depends on the crops and when they mature. Fall is always a busy time for us. Also, at the end of October we have the hay rack rides with our church and the Chi Alpha group from Wichita. At the beginning of October is our community Homecoming which is a big event in our small town.

I'm having good/sad feelings about school starting. This is Jaci's last year of school and I'm sad that my baby's growing up. On the other hand, I'm somewhat ready for Glen and I to have some time alone. It's really a bittersweet feeling.

I'm looking forward to Jaci starting volleyball because I always enjoy going to the games. This year I also have three of my granddaughters starting in middle school and I'll be going to their home games so I'll have plenty of games to watch this year. Jaci's a really good player and it's always exciting to watch her.

I have to say that I have had a wonderful summer. Having the pool right here has made it so relaxing for me. The mountains are just beautiful. Life is nice and slow around here too.

When I worked, I always had the summer off, and spent it on the beach. I felt that I deserved to relax and enjoy myself, and I just love the sun and the ocean. Now that I am retired, I was surprised to find that I still feel that the summer is a time to relax. The people who came up for the summer are so nice. There is a small group of us who go to the pool almost every day, and I really like everyone. We have had some sun almost every day, so I see them a lot.

This month, I'll have the kids more because camp is over, and Jessie doesn't feel great. They are such a pleasure, and I am happy that I can help Jessie out.

The fall will work itself out. It is just so beautiful here, and the fall is breathtaking. I have the Catskill Women's Network twice a month, and my writer's group once a week. I'm going to try yoga again, and look for a pottery workshop. Mackenzie is going into 7th grade! The littles will be in 2nd grade, which is one of the nicest grades in school. They learn so much!
They are all doing very well in school, so the only anxiety is Mackenzie's teenage angst. I'm hoping Mackenzie goes for Junior Honor Society. It is a big committment, and I hope she isn't lazy about it.

I'm still waiting for Mr. Wonderful.

I can't think of a nicer life for myself!
