Homemade scent?

Marilyn...i have a fireplace that is built onto the original fireplace....it's kind of hard to explain so here goes it is like a huge steel box that has vents on it so that when the fire inside gets a certain temp. it circulates hot air throughout the house. Our house was built in 1917 (we are renovating) and the original fireplace was just not keeping the house warm in the winter unless you were practically standing in it...so we got this attachment from Fire King put on. Anyway i just use a pretty metal potpourri pot on top of the metal box with the smell good stuff in it. Sometimes i peel apples for pie and also citrus peels and throw them in the actual fire itself with cloves and cinnamon sticks and that smells delicious also.

I did the apple pie one the other night and it was like heaven in my house. It smelled sooo good. I never would have thought of doing this...I used my little crock-pot thingy.
