Mom thinks this is it. If any of you try it please let me know if you like it
![]() JAM CAKE 1 and 1/2 c. shortening 2 and 1/2 c. brown sugar 4 eggs 5 c. flour 2 c. seedless blackberry jam 1 and 1/2 c. buttermilk 2 tsp. soda (dissolved in buttermilk) 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. allspice Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs; beat. Add flour alternately with the buttermilk. Mix well. Bake at 325 for one hour or until done. CARAMEL FROSTING 1 c. brown sugar 1/2 cup margarine 1/4 c. milk 2 c. powdered sugar Combine brown sugar and margarine. Cook for 2 min. Add milk; let stand till lukewarm. Add powdered sugar; beat until smooth. Frost cakes. |

You can also add 1 c. each of walnuts and raisins, if you would like.

Thank you so much for posting this. It looks amazing, and I really would like to try it. May be a couple of weeks before I have time. May take it to the next fellowship meal at church. We don't usually keep a whole cake here at the house. I makes our clothes tight for some reason.
![]() What kind of pans do you use? Is it a layer cake, sheet cake, bundt cake?

Well Marilyn I haven't baked it either, my Mom has. And my Grandmother. I think you could use any kind of pan(s) you wanted. Just check it periodically to see if maybe it would get done quicker in round pans
