My littlest granddaughter started preschool today
Emma is 2, almost 3, and her mom decided to put her in preschool two mornings a week. She doesn't have any kids her age to play with and she absolutely adores playing with other kids. Brooke didn't plan to put her in preschool till next year, but decided to let her go 2, mornings a week this year, because she loves so much to play with other kids.
Brooke said she did great, didn't cry or anything. I was surprised as she has NEVER been left with anyone but me. She was so happy to be there and the staff said she did great! Do you know what mom did while baby was at preschool? She cleaned out the refrigerator (in peace) and got a pedicure! LOL!!!

I'm glad Emma is getting a chance to play with friends, that's SO important and your daughter is very smart to do that! She's also smart to spend her free time getting a pedicure, lol!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE your new avatar! Your new granddaughter is just the berries!
You are so right, kids do need to play with kids their own age. Emma is pretty spoiled too, with a mom, dad, big sister, mimi (me) papa (Gary) and great grandma (my mom) all of whom think she hung the moon! I am sure the structure of preschool will be very very good for her!

It sounds like she did great especially if she wasn't crying when she was left!!! She'll have a lot of fun learning things and playing with the kids. I'm sure that Mom will enjoy the time alone, as well!!!

I've always felt that the kiddos need time away from us, just like we need time away from them.

Wow...I can't believe how young kids are starting preschool now. It's good to have them socialized, but I personally would rather have playdates.

I started Jessie in preschool at about the same age, pretty much for the same reasons. Children do need to socialize. I like the two half days - not too much, not too little. Good for Emma!!
