tile backsplash
We looked at tile today for our backsplash. We will be having the dark formica you see in the pictures below put on our countertops. Right now it is only on a corner built in computer/desk area and on the center island. For whatever reasons, the previous owners didn't replace the old original gray counter tops below the cabinets. So, I'm going to have that done this summer. We will be putting tile on the backsplash and I have a couple of samples to show you. They are basically the same style of tile, each tile is a slightly different color so that when they are installed, the backsplash is not all uniform and all the same color. Really the only difference between the two solid colored tiles is that one is smooth and one is full of holes and divets (in some of the tile, not all). The holey tile looks very rustic and we really like that look. We will only put a few of the tile with the pattern up and they will be scattered about randomly.
So what do you think? The first pic is the smoother tile and the second pic is the tile with holes and divits.

I'm not good at this sort of thing but I do like what you've picked out. I just have a wall...LOL. I wouldn't be able to pick something out very well on my own so I just stick to the plain ole wall. You have such nice taste in the pictures you've shown from your old house. I don't think you've posted many pictures of the inside of your new one since you've been moved in.

Are you using all three tiles? I love this idea. The tiles are beautiful, and the holey one will really make it interesting! They look great with the counter top too.

I wasn't planning to use all 3 but maybe I should! I was going to use the holey ones or the smooth ones with just a few of the painted tiles.

Gayle the holey ones look like tumble marble are they? I love that look along with the patterned tiles which you will spread out I think it would go very nicely with your countertop.

Gina, they are tumbled limestone! My daughter put the exact same ones in her kitchen backsplash and they looked great, I really liked them.
