Thumbs down Not only my hair got cut!!

I went to get my hair colored and cut this morning. Everything was going great, you know, love my hairdresser, good conversation and then it happened!! For the very first time in HER life as a hairdresser and MY first time getting a cut...she cut my ear!!! It was cut on the very top, thin part. I thought it would never quit bleeding. She felt soooo bad and it only hurt when it got cut.

I was so shocked this happened, but assured her that I was okay.

I'll bet she felt terrible! Was she distracted? I know Mama is a retired hairdresser and I remember her nearly cutting her thumb off with a straight razor one time, but I don't remember her ever cutting a customer.

No, she was distracted, but it was the first time she had ever cut someone ever! Naturally it had to be me....LOL Hurt like a son of a gun when it happened, but once it started bleeding, it didn't hurt anymore. She felt so bad.....

Oh, my goodness, and looks like you are still beating yourself up over it .

Seriously, so sorry this had to happen to you. A hair dresser told me once that the really good ones have scissors as sharp as razors. It's surprising that this does not happen more often. Hope it heals very quickly!!!

I meant to say "she was not distracted". I need to read these things before I hit the submit button..

So, did you get a free haircut? If I was a beautician and I was to cut someone, I would give them their haircut for free.

It would have been nice to have a discount at least....but I don't really mind. It was an accident and I could tell she felt terrible. I've been going to her now for about 4 years.

I agree she shouldn't have charged you for the haircut. Like you, it wouldn't have been a big deal for me either. Things happen like this at times. I can only imagine just how bad she felt. I would have let it go for the simple reason that it is hard to find someone who cuts your hair the way you like it. When you do find them you have to stick with them. Sorry you got your ear wacked. lol

I totally agree!

Janet, I hope your ear is better!!! When I first got my ear pierced (up top in the cartlidge) hairdresses used to get it snagged on their comb!!! And that hurt like a b*tch b/c it took a year to heal!

OUCH!! I am so glad that your ear is ok now but I do agree with the others about the free haircut esp when you have been going to her for 4 years!!

Oh my THAT would hurt! Mine hurt just a little at the time, but I think having it snagged with a comb would be a lot worse. It's all better and pretty much healed. It wasn't like she cut a slice or anything, just a little more than a nic. I'm usually a pretty tough cookie, so I heal pretty fast....LOL
