The universe may have responded

Like I posted, I've been fishing around online and have looked at some real estate websites in the area I'm interested in.

Well, just before, Kevin called me. (He used to be a NYC teacher). Anyway, he's from one of the agencies I checked out. Some ask for your phone number.
He's going to make up a list of what's available in the area around my price range. I told him I want a pool, no upstate NY rough and ready rednecks, and not a senior citizen place.

Spent yet another day on the couch, but I do have to go out tomorrow. I've been thinking about what needs to be gone through and gotten rid of. Packing - I don't want to think about that yet.

I'm just overwhelmed. I don't think it's fatal.

This is in the Buck's County area, which I also love:

I've never owned a home, so it's not too realistic, but it is wonderful!

Judy, that's not just a house... it already says HOME all over it. That would be wonderful place to live!

I've looked in past threads, but not having much luck. Why are you moving Judy, or wanting to move...have I missed something? The house on the link you gave is beautiful, I love everything about it, interior and the exterior.

I'm moving because it's time to leave NYC. It's too noisy, crowded, etc. I've always loved the country and now is the time. I want to wake up and see trees and grass, and slow down a bit. I think it's also time to try a smaller town.

I guess I'm just living out my dream. It's scary though, plus a lot of work to get rid of things I no longer need and pack, etc.

That's not the house I"m going to buy, although I'd love to. I never lived in a house and don't want to start taking care of one at this point in my life. But, if I WAS going to buy a house, that would be it.

I think I want a condo in Hudson Valley. It has to have a pool, not be for seniors, and I would like to be part of a community.

Kevin sent me a whole list which I have to look at.

My father went to a seniors community in FL, my sisters M-in-L to one in NJ and both had a great time. There was a center for the performing arts in Dad's community. Both had shuttles to every concert, shopping center, etc. Pearl went dancing almost every night I thought. Not saying you should do a senior condo, just saying that some of these communities really cook! Lots of fun without all the responsibility, lots of community with private space essential. I'm sure you'll pick a good one.

That house has soooo much charm. It reminds me of something right out of a story book.

That is wonderful you are living your dreams Judy. I understand totally wanting to find a condo w/ other's taking care of the landscape/pool, etc.

Keep us informed on your searches. It's so fun to look at pictures of homes and such.

Isn't it the most wonderful house? I wish I had some home owner's experience, but there's no sense in learning something I don't really want to learn. It's pretty expensive I think to own an old house like that too.

On the other hand, a condo, a pool for summer, people around, but still privacy if I don't want to be social, sounds really nice.

I envy you so much Judy....knowing what you want and reaching for it. I'm sure you'll find everything you want and then some.

Judy, the house is beautiful but I can understand you being hesitant about owning one. They do have upkeep and other expenses that go with them. If you're used to a condo and love not having to mess with all of the upkeep, yard work, and would like a pool then stick with your guns and stay with a condo. I'm sure that you'll find just the right place for you. Good luck and keep us posted on how the search is going!!!!

We live in a condo Judy so I understand how convenient and appealing that could be. It's nice to never have to worry about yard upkeep and such. We have more time to focus on other things, like spending time together and playing with Marty!

I hope you find the PERFECT community for you! You need a lively and active bunch to keep up with you. lol

I know nothing about condos....do most allow pets? Who takes care of the yard work? Is is sort of like apartments only with two or three living spaces? Color me dumb, but I just don't know much about them.
