Smile Appetizer Time!!

Hi girls! Haven't been posting much here...but, I thought it would be fun to start an appetizer thread with Christmas and new years around the corner..I can always use new recipes! I started one on YT but, I'm only getting lookers!! LOL!! no appetizer recipes!

How about stuffed mushrooms!

get good sized mushrooms and wipe them off.
cut the stems out and chop them fine
chop up a med size onion
fry these in a pan with a good amount of butter (not a diet recipe girls!!)
when the onions and mushroom stems are tender add approx 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs and 1/4 (or more if you like) of parmesean cheese. mix well. should be moist, not dry. If it's too dry add more butter (your arteries are going to LOVE you for this dish!!)
with a spoon fill the mushroom caps with the stuffing
bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30 mins or the mushrooms turn brown

absolutely delicious!!

The mushrooms sound wonderful. I think I will make these around Christmas - Yummy!!

The following is a recipe I haven't tried yet. I've cut it out and it's been sitting in my book waiting to be made.

Baked Cheese Dip

8 oz. cream cheese
1 c. sour cream
1 jar. Hormel dried beef
1 can chopped green chilies
1 1/2 c. sharp cheddar cheese

Cut dried beef into small pieces, then mix all ingr's together. Cut the middle out of a round loaf of Hawaiian bread or sour dough bread. Put the mixture in the middle of the bread and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hr. Serve with Ritz crackers and the cut up bread removed.

I have another one!

This is another one I tried a few weeks ago and they were a hit!

Roll Ups...you wil need:

soft tortilla wraps
cream cheese
onions
peppers
(any kind of veggies)
salsa or picante sauce

cut up (small) the veggies
mix with the cream cheese
spread mixture on the wraps and roll
leave in the fridge for an hour or more (don't do over night or the wrap will get soggy)
cut at a diagonal
use the salsa/picante sauce for dipping

they are quick, easy and delicious!

I used 2 blocks of cream cheese. This made 4 - 5 wraps (depending on how thick you spread the mixture)

for Christmas you could use the red and green peppers for a festive look!

I put a Spinach Dip recipe and a Black Bean Dip recipe on a different thread. In case you didn't see them here they are:

Spinach Dip

1 pkg. Lipton Vegetable Soup Mix (or Knorr's Vegetable soup mix)
8 oz. sour cream
1 cup Mayonaise (not Miracle Whip or Salad dressing)
10 oz. frozen chopped spinach, thawed and water squeezed out
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1 can water chestnuts, drained and chopped

In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients, chill for 2 hours

Serve with crackers or, my favorite, Kings Hawaiian Bread torn into small chunks.
Or if you want to get fancy you can take the Hawaiian Bread and cut the top off and hollow it out and serve the dip inside the bread. Take what you carved out and tear into chunks and serve from a bowl. This is very good!!!!

Bean Salsa Dip

1 can Blackeyed Peas
1 can Black Beans
1 can Red Beans
1 can Shoepeg Corn (or any can of corn will work--I think that shoepeg corn is smaller kernels)
1 green Pepper, finely chopped
1 red Pepper, finely chopped
1 Onion, finely chopped
1/4 to 1/2 bunch fresh Cilantro
1 large bottle of Zesty Italian Dressing

Drain and rinse the beans. Then mix everything together. This makes a large amount. Serve with Frito Chips or tortilla chips. Yummy!!!!

Hopefully Adminstration will see this thread and move it to the RECIPE section. I would hate to go back to check for recipes and miss these.

How come I don't have one of each of these in front of me right now? Where's the cook?

Maybe it's his day off. The masseuse must have a day off too.

Oh well. They all sound soooo good.
