Eyebrows

I'm getting my eyebrows waxed for the first time on Thursday. I'm a little nervous about it.
Can anyone give me kind of an overview of what I can expect. My friend told me that it hurts like crazy the first time you have it done.
Should I not be wearing make-up when i have it done? Or will that not matter at all?

Make sure they put powder on before the wax, it provides a buffer between the wax and your skin.

I get my eyebrows threaded - it hurts the first time, but is easier after that, and I think it lasts longer.

I get my eyebrows waxed, and it's no big deal. I guess it hurts a little, but it's not memorable at all at least for me. My skin is a little red for a while afterward. Makeup or no makeup doesn't matter.

I'm thinking of having electrolysis done so I don't have to keep getting it done.

Wish you well.

You'll be OK Molly. It's not bad at all. I don't wear make-up when I go. Well definitely not mascara.

I wear waterproof mascara but when I get my eyebrows done they use some kind of lotion at the end to soothe the skin. Well it actually runs my mascara, then it gets in my eyes, then my contacts slip all over and I can't see to drive home!

I just pluck mine, let me know how this goes. Tweezers aren't painful a bit and it is really easy. You just hold the tweezers next to your nose at the corner of your eye and that is where your brow should start... You hold it at an angle from the corner of your eye, to a little under your temple and that is where it should end.
Then you just shape them and give them your own unique arch, thickness etc.

My sister gets hers waxed, not sure her procedure is though lol

Inquiring minds are eager to learn what getting your eyebrows threaded is!

Q. What is Eyebrow Threading?
A. Eyebrow Threading is an ancient Indian all natural, safe, simple, fast effective method of facial hair removal. Facial threading is the best alternative to waxing and tweezing, especially for sensitive skin or people who are on Retin A and Accutane. Eyebrow threading is very precise for an eyebrow shape that frames your face. Also once you thread you will never go back to any other method or hair removal.

Q. How Does it Work?
A. It's done with a piece of thread. By knotting the thread and creating a trap, hairs are removed by the roots or closest to the roots.

Well, I wasn't impressed with that at all, were you? It's so much easier with tweezers.

That's really a new thing to me... not sure I'd enjoy it much. LOL
The comments under the clip said it's pretty painful...

You wouldn't be impressed, but might be amused to see me having my done - the entire time I'm like "ahh ooh ahh" and my eyes water like fountains. The woman always ask "Is this your first time?"

But in the end it's worth it, I like the shape and it lasts longer.

Okay, so I think I'll stick with waxing or go for the electrolysis. I didn't like the stretching the upper lid part. There's enough extra skin there now.

Judy, maybe I'm just dense, but I'm still scratching my head about your pics. I'm so confused..........
