Kanye West... WOW
You guys probably don't care, but this is my kind of music I went to Kanye West last night for his Glow in the Dark tour. An old friend of mine came with me, and I hadn't seen her in 2 years so that was pretty awesome. We got there in time for the first guy, Lupe Fiasco, who I'm not a fan of at all! Next up was N.E.R.D. with Pharrell who is basically a huge star in the hip-hop world. I never even THOUGHT he'd be there with them. Chris Brown who is also huge made an appearance with them too! Next Rihanna came up and I'm not gonna lie, she couldn't sing. She is not good in person at all. There were small breaks between each performace, and a longer break before Kanye West came out. The whole stage setup was crazy and it was like some weird planet and the effects were so awesome and yeah basically he just blew me away. I used to like his music but not think much of him as a person, but he really seemed more down to earth being up there, and being interactive, and making fun of himself sometimes. Near the end he did a little speech about anything is possible and if you have a dream don't let anything hold you back, and having a bit of an ego is better than having no self esteem at all, believe in yourself, yadda yadda yadda. The whole concert ended up being about 5 hours long! Not bad for $89 tickets! ESPECIALLY when we were only about 50 feet away from the stage!
As we walked out we got handed little booklets which were written by Kanye, and he dedicated it to his mom, and inside it's full of little stories from his life, and little sayings that basically just tell you to believe in your dreams and you're worth everything, "embrace your flaws" and "you can learn more from a critique than a compliment" etc. I think that was a really special thing for him to do. So my opinion of Kanye West as a person have definitely changed
