They Got Married!!!

We've had quite the weekend!!! My daughter, Dae Lynn, and her fiance, Damon, who were engaged a couple of weeks ago decided to elope!!! We knew that they were planning on getting married soon and had talked about what options were available to accomplish that but they decided that they didn't want to wait and went to Las Vegas on Saturday and were married. We knew what they were doing because they had asked us to keep Karlie for part of the weekend while they were gone. I'm really disappointed that I missed seeing my daughter's actual wedding but I'll just keep that disappointment to myself. I think that we're going to plan a regular wedding reception and invite everyone to come and she wants to redo their vows. She said that it was pretty cheesy in LV.

Everything that could have gone wrong on their honeymoon did! They left from KC on Saturday morning for the airport. It ended up that Damon's driver's license had expired (long story) so he was flagged for every flight he took. That meant that he had to be questioned at every airport. They eventually got there, fround a hotel, got their marriage license, and found a chapel. The only good thing was that they got to ride in a limo and she was excited about doing that. The wedding only took 10 minutes! That evening Dae Lynn was really sick at her stomach. It might have been nerves or it might have been a stomach virus because Jaci was sick here at home too. The next day they rented a car to drive to the Hoover dam. They went back to their room first but their card wouldn't open the door to their room. They had had some problems checking in so they figured that their key had expired and they were going to straighten it out. A maid was nearby so she offered to open their door with her master key. They went inside and after a couple of minutes realized that it wasn't their room! They were on the wrong floor and the room numbers were kinda' confusing. In all of this, Dae Lynn left the rental receipt in the wrong room. They went on to the Hoover dam and had a great time. After they ate that night, Damon, got sick. The next morning they swam in the pool and had a good time but soon after they got back to their room there was a knock and 6 security men dressed in black were there. They questioned them about the receipt left in the wrong room and Dae Lynn explained but the other guest claimed that his credit card and some money were missing. The guard said that he believed them but according to the rules of the motel they had to leave. Dae Lynn said that they had to leave the door open while they packed and were escorted to the edge of the property and told that their name would be on a list from now on and that they couldn't ever stay at an MGM hotel again. Dae Lynn said that she cried and cried and just wanted to come home. They ended up getting an earlier flight out and just stayed in Alberquque before coming home late on Sunday night.

Dae Lynn was here last night and was still upset over it all but she said that one day they'd look back and laugh about it all. She just wasnt' ready to laugh just yet!!!

So my family has expanded by two more!! We now have 15 in all!!!! That cute little blonde girl that I posted pictures of a while back is my new granddaughter!!! She's a real cutie!!!

There's still some problems because my other SIL worked with Damon and he won't have anything to do with him, nor will he come over when Damon's here. He's threatening not to come for Thanksgiving! Sigh, I hope that all of this gets over soon. I've been dealing with this ever since she started dating him. He has had some problems but hopefully they're all in the past.

WOW - congratulations. What a wedding story to pass. Hope your daughter finds some humor in it soon and that the SILs can work things out.

Oh my oh my oh my. Your poor daughter has been though the mill. Like wise I'm sure the stress isn't helping you either. I hope it all works out with your other SIL.
Life is to short. I'll put them in my prayers.

Oh WOW! I know it doesn't seem like it now - but the wedding "mishaps" will all be peals of laughter in a few years! Congratulations on your expanding family!

Congrats Diana on the two new additions to the family...how grand is that?! It's too bad their wedding met with a few obstacles and mishaps, but what a story to tell the grandkids...lol. I hope she wrote it all down in a journal somewhere, because as time goes by, certain details are lost. What a wedding adventure. Tell the happy couple I'm sending best wishes for a wonderful life.

When I first asked Dae Lynn how her honeymoon was she said, "Oh, Mom, it was the worst time I've ever had!" After she told me all about it it sure seemed that way but she was already thinking that someday they'd be laughing about it. I just don't think that she was quite ready yet. She has a friend that had a regular wedding and she had everything go wrong with it too so I told Dae Lynn that she and Joannna should get together and compare weddings. I think that she spent a lot of time in tears.

I think that after all the fiasco that's why she wants to repeat their vows with just their close family nearby.

Oh, my, what an experience!!! This will be quite a story for her to tell her grandkids someday. Doubt that they will ever need to stay in an MGM hotel again. It's not like there aren't lots of other options. Hope all goes very, very well with the redo and reception!!

Yes, they live in town. Two of my married kids live within a mile of me and Dae Lynn is the furthest because she's in town. And Jaci is still at home.

Congratulations Diana! This is happy news. It's always good to have someone new in the family to love. Poor kid - she really had a lot of honeymoon stress!

I think a small reception with her family around her is just the right cure.

I went back and looked at then baby's picture. She's so cute!
