Question Remember the Red-Haired Girl?

I think most of you remember me writing about the little red-headed girl that rides my bus. She is so hard to 'get to' if you know what I mean. She lives with her Mom, her Aunt (Mom's sister) and their step-dad. None work because of mental disabilities.

Anyway, she decided she wants to kill me. She's in the 3rd grade so I'm not really worried of course. The other day she was being loud and obnoxious so I told her she needed to be quiet for a little while. She put up her hand, said it was me and then used her other hand as a gun and shot the hand (me). Of course this sort of thing, no matter how threatening has to be reported.

This morning after Patty got off the bus for breakfast, a little boy she sits with came to me and said that Patty was showing her body parts. I asked what parts and he pointed 'down there' and then said her but and boobies. I had the guidance councelor come to my bus and it was hard for me to tell him this while holding back the tears.

The assist. Principal, who usually handles these type of situations won't be back until Monday so Monday I will go talk with him about this. I feel it needs to be reported to child welfare. Why is she doing these things and at such a young age.

It upset me more to find this out than to think she wanted to kill me.

I would worry that she has been sexually abused.

I was just going to say that Dobie, anyone that young showing body parts like that is usually a sign of some kind of sexually abuse, I hope to God not, but Janet i am so glad that you reported that.

That poor little girl needs help soon, glad you are going to report it janet, i hope they can do something to help the situation she is in, or get her out of her direct inviroment. This child obviously sees or experiences more than what any child of that age should.

You just never know what goes on inside other people's homes. Maybe the school counselor can have a talk with her. We have a wonderful school counselor in our grade school. I've even talked to him myself!!!

They talk to her all the time. She spends most recesses in the Assist. Principal hallway. She lives with people with mental disabilities and she doesn't stand a chance. Patty was taken away from them before, but not for very long. This little girl doesn't stand a chance.

As of this afternoon, I have her still sitting in the front seat, but alone. She is no longer to have any other contact with students on the bus, she just can't be trusted to behave like a 3rd grade student.

I wish/hope child welfare will step in and take this child from this home. It is the only way she stands a chance of having a future.

Another sad story. I hope she doesn't fall through the cracks and know that you are doing your part to help.

I hope she doesn't fall through the cracks either, but I'm afraid she will. You see, when I tried (quite a number of years ago) to help my nephews children, Child Welfare Services said there was little they could do...after all they had both parents at home, a house, food, clothing and attending school.

They had their basic needs met, so they wouldn't step in. So the oldest girl went to girls school down in Indianapolis, it's for troubled girls and the oldest boy went to boys school. The younger three just steal, pop out babies and drain the system. They are all adults now.

This will most likely be Patty's future too. So very sad.

That poor little child. It can break your heart sometimes when you work with children.

We can all pray for her and that she ends up okay and in a good environment.

I am speechless. Just know that your strength with get you through this!
Hopefully this little girl can beat the odds, come to terms with what has happened to her to break the cycle and make something of herself.

I know the school is trying to get something done, but I seriously doubt anything will happen and it is really too bad. She is having trouble at school academically and the school wanted to put her in special education, but this wack job step-grandfather of hers said no, that it would hurt her chances if she wanted to be in politics..... oh brother!
