hours got cut today !!!!
We'll im down to 4 days a week at work, so i will have Fridays off, at least the company considers me full time with working 32 hours a week, and i will still have my benefits, sick days, vacations days. So i called my sister to see if she needed help at her personal care home on Fridays, she is going to talk to her husband and get back to me tonight, so i hope everything works out for me today.. this stinks but hopefully it will be back to normal when the steel mills open back up in January...

Gosh darn it. When it rains it pours. So sorry to hear about your hours being cut.
But it's nice that you get to keep the benefits. Hope it all gets better for you soon. Your in my prayers.

Haley, you can always apply at different stores for holiday work. They hire like crazy here and in nearby towns. I don't think it will be too hard for you to find something part-time to get you through till January. I am keeping my fingers crossed for ya girl!!!

It always amazes me how bartenders know how to make all those different drinks. I'd be making tons of mistakes. But then I'm sure your taught how to do that too. Good Luck.

They cut your hours? That's too bad but at least you still have a job. I hope that things work out with your sister. You have to remember that after it pours there's a rainbow!!!!

I'm so sorry Haley - but you are such a resourceful person, I just know that you'll be fine! Thank goodness you still have all your benefits!

I always thought it would be so fun to tend bar, but never got licensed. Besides, I'd have to have a cheat sheet with me with how to make all those different drinks.

aww thanks guys, i'm going to try and file an unemployement claim next week, everyone is telling me to do that so i'll give it a try the worst they can say is no. but i can work up my sisters every other friday, my mother in law said she will babysit for me, so there is a little extra money i'll have for Christmas... need to save some on daycare. but things are looking ok... it will be better when the mills start running again in January, hopefully !!! but i am also redoing my resume and getting it out there too.
Janet i remember my first bartending job, they gave me a book with all the drinks in it, and if the drink wasn't in there i just asked the customer what was in it.. and sometimes they would tell you and sometimes they were rude about it... but it was a fun job, hard to kick them out at 2 am,, but it was just a side job, that's how i got my extra money for the downpayment on my house....
