Hiding Christmas Presents

Has anyone ever forgotten where they have hidden their christmas presents?
I did a couple of years ago. Had gotten my oldest daughter a longenberger basket
for Christmas. That's right I put it away and forgot it. Then when I went to clean things up and put things away after Christmas I found it. So I just gave it to her for her birthday. It was a good thing she wasn't expecting it for Christmas. Her birthday is in July. LOL

I don't think I've ever done that. I usually wrap things as I get them so I don't have a lot to wrap at once so gifts are in my closet until I get the tree up.

I try to hide in my garage or in my closet.. I start wrapping early so I don't get overwhelmed . Sometimes I buy pretty bags much easier.. lol To be honest I am cutting down this year giving mostly gift cards. I have to many family members to buy for its getting crazy and I have cut out a few friends..

Oh man! I've done this too. Usually it is stocking stuffers - I buy things throughout the year and sometimes I forget where I stash them!!! I've forgotten presents too. LOL!

I've forgotten stocking stuffers, too. I bought some for the girls when they were about 5 or 6 years old & found them when they were in their teens. They were in a drawer that obviously is seldom used. So frustrating when things like this happen.

Too bad I'm not your kid. I would of found the present already & let you know where it was when it didn't show up on christmas morning. My brother & I were the worst (or best) snoopers ever. I still snoop, but my husband learned early that if he goes ahead & wraps it I'll leave it alone.

I learned very young at age how to unwrap and it wouldn't be noticed. I also made sure there was still some of the wrapping paper just in case I made a mistake. So I usually unwrapped quite a few and then wrapped them back up. I was such a stinker.

I don't think that I've ever forgotten about any gifts.

When my kids were little I didn't have anywhere to store my gifts until Christmas so they were just in my bedroom with a blanket over them. I told the kids that if they wanted to know what they were getting they were welcome to look or they could wait and let it be a surprise. I don't think that they ever looked.

I can remember when my brother and I were little that we would snoop through everything to find gifts. The only thing that I ever found were Skipper clothes and I didn't figure they were for me because I didn't have a Skipper doll but I ended up getting the doll from my aunt. I never did figure out where she kept our gifts at!!!!

I've never wanted to know what was coming for Christmas. I loved the surprize on Christmas morning.

We were so upset when we found out that our girls knew one year that they were getting bicycles for Christmas. Hubby and I had bought them while they were in school and brought them home and hid them in a part of the attic where we knew they were safe. On Christmas morning, hubby brought them out to a less than excited reception. We were a little sad because we had gotten them really pretty bikes and they had wanted them so bad. It was a few years later that we learned that a little girl in the neighborhood had been home sick the day we bought the bikes, and had seen us and told our girls.

To us, it's got to be a surprize. You may have an inkling what you are getting, but not know for sure until you open the package. The delight on the receiver's face is the prize we are seeking.

Our girls peeked one year that we know of then lied about it, and lost a big present as a result. Don't think they ever did that again.

I never peeked as a kid. My Mom believed in one good whack and no discussions!
I liked the surprise Christmas morning anyway. We celebrated both Chanukah and Christmas. I liked the Christmas present best always.

Jessie and I also did both holidays. I had a menorah (a candle holder for 8 candles, one of which is lit each of the 8 nights of Chanukah). I put a small tree on a table with the Menorah under it and all of the presents except Jessie's. Then we would play "hotter/colder" every night of Chanukah until she found her gift. Her Christmas gift would be put there by Santa for Christmas morning. I have to ask her if she ever peeked. If she did, she is quite the actress!

I wish my grandchildren got less presents and enjoyed them as much as I did and Jessie did. There are too many presents! They become overwhelmed, and jaded. I do not like the way it is done.

(Janet - you were a little stinker!)
