Camera Advice

I already have a camera that I love....it's a Kodak EasyShare Z740. It does what I need it to do and takes good pictures.

Here is a picture of it.....Camera.jpg

It's just a tad too big for my purse to carry all the time. The other day I saw the most beautiful coyote and wished I had a camera with me. What I'm wanting is one of those really thin cameras that I can carry everyday in my purse. I've seen some at Wal Mart for around $100 that have 8 MP and some have 9 MP. Do any of you have something like that? Do they take good pictures? Is there one you recommend over another? I really don't want to spend very much so I know that probably limits the quality.

I have a Canon 850 but it's not very thin. It is pretty small though and fits in a purse nicely. It cost quite a bit more than the ones that you're looking at at Wal-mart but you can find Canon cameras cheaper than the one that I have. I went with Canon because of looking at the reviews about it and, I think that it was Val that recommended it once. With her being a photographer I thought that her opinion was important. Mine has more features than I understand how to use but I love it. Good luck!!

Mine is a Kodak EasyShare Z710, it is small, got it at WalMart, it was under $100.
Takes great picture. Check it out at www.kodak.com/go/z710.

I have a Sony Cybershot I carry in my purse (when I remember to put it in ). My criteria is that it has to use batteries I can buy off the shelf at any convenience store. I used to have a camera with a special rechargeable battery (lithium) and it would die at the most inopportune times!!!

No suggestions on camera because mine right now, and my favorite is a Nikon D60 which is larger than the one you have. However, having had a camera (HP) that took AA batteries, knowing people with small Canon's with rechargable batteries, and having a Kodak Easy Share with rechargable batteries, my experience has been that the Nikon and Kodak batteries last a very long time between charges. The HP with the AA's ate batteries. It was very frustrating. You can also buy an extra battery for Kodak cameras and keep an extra charged one in the zipper part of your purse.

Just some thoughts from my experiences. Good luck finding the PERFECT camera!!!

My Canon has a rechargeable battery and it lasts a long time between charges. Of course, it depends on how much I use it on when it needs charged.

Janet, I hope that you'll find what you're looking for. Check out what you're looking at on the internet and read the reviews. You'll learn a lot from the reviews.

I have been checking some reviews online. Now all I need to do is find them in the store and see if they are what I am wanting...comfortable to hold...etc.

I have a Canon A 560 which is a little large to carry in my purse, but I do. I got fed up with the battery issue so went online and did some research. A couple of people also told me to turn off the viewer because it drains a lot of power.

I got Energizer Advanced Lithium batteries which have lasted a good 3 weeks!
I also got a Maha battery charger and Powerex nickel cadmium rechargeables.
They were recomme3nded a lot online, but I haven't used them yet.

I would love a camera that was a bit smaller and that recharged it's own internal battery.
