Employees at my university camp 3 days for early retirement!

Click here to read the story.

Anyone wanting to retire? Would you camp-out for three days just to get a better retirement package?

That is a really strange way to do things. Do the professors and adjuncts have a union?

Being a college professor, that seems very odd to me too. I guess that it is first come first served, and they only have a certain number of "buy out" packages; thus, being first in line is important!

There are only 80 buyout packages. Apparently it's a really great deal and it's first come, first served so they decided to camp out. I think it should be done more fairly, but I really wouldn't know how to go about finding a "fair" way to choose.

They could never do a first come, first served in NYC!!! What do you think, Gina?

They could physically do it up here in Roxbury, but it would not sit well with the commuity.

The more I think about it, I feel that they should give first choice to those with the most years of service. They will be the ones to benefit most from the package anyway.
