Sometimes is bad...sometimes it isn't!!! Some months I have one...some months I dont! I would think at 52 I would be DONE WITH THE CURSE!!

Can't help with an answer. I had a hysterectomy at 36. Hang in there.

I'm 52 too. I started to stop a few years ago and was put on Prempro for the mood swings and started back up but when I went off of it I quit completely. I haven't had a period for 2 years. Everyone is different and I guess your body just isn't ready yet. I will tell you that it's nice that I don't have to worry about that any more.

I'm 54 but had a complete hysterectomy in 2001. I take Premarin to help with the hot flashes. I tried going off of them and it was hell. So I'm taking them again, but the lowest dose possible.

You don't want to hear my answer..
I was done -Totally done- at 42 or 43... took me two years from beginning to end.. pretty smooth it was. I don't take any hormone therapy.

I heard years ago that the sooner you start (monthly) the longer you go, and the later you start (monthly), the sooner you stop.

Good luck! Hope it ends for you soon!!

Oh, Brenda, wish I could help. I'm 55, but I had a complete hysterectomy in 1995, so never went through menopause. So hope that this all stops for you very, very soon!!!

Brenda I am in your shoes .. If you search threads about three weeks ago I was having a very heavy period. I am 52 also and my period comes and goes for a few mts. and then resumes again. Like I mention last mt. it was very bad I was bleeding heavily, I thought that I was going to have to go to the gyno but it stopped and got lighter the next day.

I don't know how true it is but I hear that if you don't get your period after a year you can assume that it is gone... I AM WAITING!!!!

I had what Gina is having, but because of fibroid cysts. I remember never knowing when I was going to be "flowing." It was awful. I bled so much. I think it took 2 or 3 years and then it gradually stopped. Gina is right. After a year of not having it, you're pretty much there. I did get it after almost a year, but it was light and only once.

I am so glad to be done with that! I do take hormone therapy 3 times/week.
It's a very low dose too.

Hang in there. It will stop, and then you can never worry about keeping all that equipment in your bag.

What herbal tablets do you take if you don't mind me asking?

Can you share your hormone therapy? I take Premarin 0.3 MG everyday. Would love to not have to take it everyday.
