Did you hear me scream.......
I stepped out in the yard this morning to enjoy the flower beds and there right in the middle of things was two dogs!!! I don't mean my yorkies either, but our airdale, Molle, and my daughter's lab, Olie. It's been so hot and they dug out a spot for themselves to cool off!!! My flower bed has been looking so beautiful and now it has not only 2 holes, but actually 3 because one of them made an extra!!!! I'm so mad at them!!!! Glen took some of the extra fence that we have for the yard and temporarily set it up to keep them from doing it again. That's why we have the fence in the first place is to keep the dogs from digging beside the house!!! Hopefully it will grow back in and not look too bad. Bummer!!!!!!
Would anyone like to own a couple of BIG dogs??!!!! Btw......I forgot to tell everyone that my SIL was here the other day and she has 2 seven month old Irish Wolfhounds for sale!!! She thought that some of my yorkie owner friends might be interested!!! LOL Here's her web-site..... http://www.weefriendsfarm.com/wolfhound.html

Diana, so sorry about your yard. You can't blame the dogs though for wanting some relief from the heat. In their position, we'd have done the same thing. My dad used to water a spot near the garage for our big dogs to dig and cool off. You may have to do something like that for yours. You could plant a fig tree or something to provide some shade at the spot and help block the view.
Right now, another young dog doesn't sound appealing at all. I'm too busy taking care of the yorkies and cleaning up after a bulldog puppy. He's getting soooo big. We'll have to post more pics.

Brenda's Irish Wolfhounds are the greatest dogs!!! They're just really big lap dogs because if they could fit in your lap, they'd be there!!!! The dad to these pups would make your great dane look small. He's over 200 lbs and she said that he's bigger than when we saw him 2 years ago. If you ever change your mind, she ships all over the U.S.

I'm so sorry that the dogs got in the flower beds, if it's not an armadillo, it's the dogs. Of course, they can't be blamed, they are just trying to cool off and I would be too! but it is terribly frustrating to have the beautiful beds disturbed by digging!!!

I know it's not the dogs fault but it's so agravating when your flower bed looks so nice and full. It will be hard to fill in the holes since it's so hot. The plants just don't want to grow much in this heat.
