Christmas Time!
Hi everybody!
I have barely been on here lately, my semester is winding down (2 final exams down, 2 to go!). Just wondering what everyone's plans are for Christmas! It is my absolute favorite time of the entire year (my mother calls me a "Who"). Happy Holidays!!!

Hi Maddie!! I bet you'll be glad to get the last two final exams out of the way huh?
We don't do a whole lot here...we go to my mother's on the 23rd with my two brothers and their families. Then on the 24 Mom comes to our house and spends the night and we get up Christmas morning and open our gifts. Mom then goes to my older brothers house for dinner and we just stay here and relax. Usually that afternoon or early the next day, I take my tree down and get things back in order...lol. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

We (hubby, daughter, son-in-law, 2 granddaughters, and mom) have dinner reservations on Christmas eve. We are not cooking because we are all leaving town right after Christmas. BUT we ARE fixing lots of Christmas goodies, cookies, candy, cakes, snacks - cuz we will take all those things with us.
After dinner on Christmas eve, we'll go back to my daughters for Christmas goodies and we'll play cards. The granddaughers will probably get to open one present. We'll just eat, laugh and enjoy the evening. On Christmas morning, we'll get up early to open presents. Then we will fix our traditional country breakfast, eggs, sausage, biscuits, and gravy. After breakfast my daughter and her family are heading out of town to go to Colorado skiing. Later Christmas afternoon, my mom and I will have dinner with some relatives in a little town just north of where we live. We haven't seen these particular relatives in over 10 years, so that will be nice. On the day after Christmas, my husband, mom (and our two Yorkies) and I will head up to Oklahoma (about a 6 hour drive) to have Christmas with my husband's 4 sisters and his two sons and 3 grandsons. I have some business to do in Oklahoma, so I will be running around the state while Gary visits his family. We'll only stay a few days, then we'll be home to rest and recuperate! The first week in January, we'll be getting our deer lease ready to have a sale, so we will be really busy with all that! WHEW! I'm tired already!

MADDIE LOU WHO...what a darling name Finishing a semester AND having Christmas...no wonder you're happy!!
My son, dil, and grandkids will spend a few days with us at Christmas. We'll go across the street to my brother and sil's house on Christmas Eve. My 3 brothers and their families will be there. We'll have a gift exchange game, eat soups, laugh and act stupid. For some reason we all get along really well and enjoy each others company, lol! We'll have Christmas day here. My other son and dil are coming on New Years Eve from Seattle and they will be here a week. I'll leave my tree up for them. I can't tell you how much I love having all of my kids together at home Dustin and Joy haven't seen their new niece yet! I know this will be our last Christmas together for a long time, since Michael and his family will be moving to Scotland soon. I'm not going to waste my time being sad about it...I'll just think about it another day, lol!

"I'll never go hungry again," was such a great scene. And, "I don't know nothing about birthing babies." Fabulous! Ahhh....Rhett Butler...where are you?
I'm going over to Jessie's house, probably Christmas Day. I'm a grinch. I really don't like Christmas, but the children are getting older so it's not just a chaos of one toy after another after another after another. She will cook, and I usually bring the sodas, deserts, and whatever she has forgotten to buy, or has run out of. Actually, I am looking forward to it this year. I am so glad I bought them the puppy. Now I am concentrating on one or two small, special gift for each of the children. Brandon, my 8 year old, is drawing, and putting his pictures into a book with a story. Jessie is going to make copies for us as his gift. I will cherish this! I would love for Mackenzie to draw me a flower. She makes beautiful roses. I can frame it and hang it up. Kassidy probably will not do anything, but maybe I can get her to write me a story if I help her. She is the baby, and we do spoil her.

Maddie I'm just like you! I think Christmas only happens in my family because of me lol. I would always be forcing my dad to put up our lights outside, and every year since I was about 10, I put up our Christmas tree alone while listening to Christmas carols I am such a Christmas nut.
This year I'm not going home because my parents are coming here. My brother and his girlfriend are having Christmas at their house with her two little girls, and he only lives a few blocks from my place. Since their place is so small (and I don't want to wake up Christmas morning alone!) my parents are staying in my spare room. On Christmas eve, my brother is making salmon for everyone, since his girlfriend doesn't eat meat on Christmas eve. Then, she is cooking a turkey on Christmas day, and I will cook a goose to take over. Renovations are eating up so much time that I'm not feeling as festive as I should. Scott and I still need to take out carpet and put down laminate in the spare room, install a ceiling fan, and put up our new kitchen cabinets which just came in on Friday. All that needs to be done before my parents get here on Christmas eve All I want to do is drink some egg nog and watch holiday movies!

Everyone has such wonderful plans for Christmas!! I wish that I could magically peek in and see all of you with with your families for just a few minutes!
Lindsey, I wish that I were young enough to even think about tackling all of that AND having it done in just a few days!!! Sigh.......I'm just hoping to have my house CLEAN by Christmas!! LOL Maddie, I'm so happy for you to be so far along in your studies!!! You'll be done before you know it!! Thanks so much for popping in to keep us posted on how your doing! On Christmas Eve we always go to my husband's aunt's home to spend the evening with Glen's family, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters, neices and nephews. Glen's house that he grew up in was always so messy that they always had Christmas at this aunt's house (She lived with her father, Glen's grandfather). For Glen it's what he's always done so we still continue with that. For Christmas, this will be Jaci's last Christmas at home with us.....sadly. She will get up in the morning and bring her stocking into our room and open it up on the bed with us then we'll get up, eat a small bite, and open our presents. Then we'll have a big lunch with the kids and grandkids all here and open presents. We open our presents one at a time starting with the youngest first. Then the kids will leave to go to their other families and those of us that are left here will play games, do puzzles, or play pool or ping pong in the basement. Actually, this year I'm not sure if we'll be having lunch or supper with the kids.....we have a couple of new families that we're having to work around so we're not exactly sure what's going on. We have some kinks to work out but we'll get it done.....just as long as they're here for a little while....that's all I want!!!

That sounds so nice, Diana! Jaci's last Christmas home....take pictures, and if you get sad, I am sending you a lot of hugs.
Just think....sooner or later, you will be including her children in your Christmas festivities.

I know, I know. With her getting married and moving out of the house next spring it means that so much will change. I'm really struggling with the thought of an empty nest. Jaci brings so much laughter and busyness into the house that it's just going to be so empty without her. I know that she'll come and visit but it won't be the same as having her come home every night. Okay........I made myself start crying........I'm really happy that things are working out so well for her.....I've just had kids in the house for 35 years and it's hard to be without them.
