A Bad Day.......

When it rains....it pours. What started out as a fun day turned into an awful day......Yesterday I had to go back out to Wichita to get the ferns for Jaci's wedding so I invited Dae Lynn to go with me. Of course, we had to take the kids and it was difficult with the baby and Karlie but we made it and had a good day together. Just as we were leaving Wichita about 9:00 Dae Lynn got a text from Damon saying that he was going fishing with an old friend....one that's not a good influence. She was concerned about it being late and the possibility of them drinking....but Damon's been doing so well that we really didn't dwell on it.

We got home at 10:30 and Damon wasn't home yet. After I was home for probably an hour or so Dae Lynn called looking for Glen but he wasn't home yet so she called his cell phone. Glen and Feyn ended up going in to Dae's house while she loaded up the kids and got out safely. I guess that Cody had dropped Damon off at home but was concerned for her and the kids so he called to check on her. Damon had gotten really drunk and was very violent.....enough that he was scared of him and he knew that taking him home wasn't a good idea. It ended up that Damon didn't go in the house but went out to a garage in the back where he has a shop so no one talked to him.

This morning Dae went to check on Damon and he wasn't home so she called the jail......and sure enough that's where he was. She's very upset. She quit her job after the baby was born so she could stay home. They figured that things would be hard financially but was going to try it. Now with him in jail and we don't know for how long......she's got to figure out what to do. We're discussing the possiblity of them moving in with us......I'm concerned about it but I've seen it coming for the last few months.

Damon goes in to court this afternoon and so we'll know more then. He was arrested for destruction of property and being drunk but we don't know what he destroyed. He's a really mean drunk.

Karlie found out that he was in jail by overhearing us and she's been really upset. She keeps asking "What did my Daddy do?" We don't have any answers for her. It's so hard to know what to do because she's not ours and we have no legal right to her if things get really bad.

Oh Diana...it seems it does pour doesn't it? Doesn't sound like Damon's friend really is a good friend. Why do some guys seem to think they can't do anything without drinking! Rick isn't mean when he's drinking, just an a$$. I hope the best for Dae Lynn, but the best may include Damon getting some much needed help. I almost called you today...I wish I would have.

He has been doing so well. This is not uncommon, for people to fall back every so often. I am hoping he doesn't have to be in jail for too long.

It is so hard on DaelLynn and you guys! I went to Al Anon for about 2 years because of my SIL's drinking. It was so helpful.

Poor little Katie! Maybe DaeLynn should start thinking about adopting her, if she can. I am so sorry this is happening, Diana. It is a terrible disease, and if he is violent, she might be better off staying with you. Janet has a good point. He may need help and it would be good if he gets it.

Damon went to court this afternoon and bail is $750 for municipal court. He goes to district court tomorrow and will have bail charges there as well. I don't think that we're going to bail him out this time. His parents may decide to, I don't know.

Damon bought the liquor not the friend.....there was NO fishing involved. Dae Lynn talked to Cody and Damon had him scared to death. What she repeated to me makes me very scared to have her and the kids around him if he should ever drink again. However, our Pastor talked to her and he has dealt with problems like this in his own family and he has some things that he wants to council them both about. He said that if things are too complicated for him then he'll find someone to take over. He's a great guy and I'm sure will be very helpful.

Dae Lynn has a lot of things to decide in the next few days. I feel so sorry for her but she really is very strong and I know that she'll do what's best for her little family. I'm so glad that we're the kind of family that she can come to for support.

It really is great that Dae Lynn has such support from her family. I personally wouldn't want anyone to bail him out. Tough love is tough for a reason and he needs the time to get his head clear. Continued prayers being sent to your family Diana.

Damon went to district court this morning and they won't set bail until May 19th. I don't think that they want him out too quickly. I agree with that except that puts all responsibility for the bills and kids on Dae Lynn. He talked to Dae this morning and finally apologized. She went and mowed the church today.....one of Damon's responsibilities.....and her only source of income at the moment. She's doing very good though. I'm planning on going to my cousins with my Aunt Marva this weekend.

Diana, I am so sorry to hear what has happened. I hope Damon learns something from all of this and what he may loose if he continues on this path. Unfortunatly sometimes it takes something like this before it really sinks in. It is amazing how strong our girls can be when it comes to things like this, but do they really have a choice in the matter when they are left to pick up the piece's. I will be praying for you all.

Oh, Diana, so sorry to hear that Dae Lynn is going through this. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for all of you. My heart and prayers to out to you!!

Hope Dae Lynn is able to stay on a level plain for awhile. The emotions she must be going through can really get to you after awhile. I'm keeping her in my prayers. Glad Damon apologized for his actions.

Been thinking about you and your family Diana. How is Dae Lynn doing?

Dae Lynn seems to be doing really good. Glen gave her some money to stay where she's at for another month. Damon had picked up some mowing jobs so Dae Lynn is taking care of them. Right now that's her only income.

Damon was really worried that she would leave him because she had told him that but, of course, she's not going to. I think that's been a big relief to him. Our Pastor has been in to talk to him. He's a wonderful man and I know that he'll be a lot of help with all of this.

We found out right before I left for the weekend that my SIL, Jason, lost his job. He and Amy are in pretty good shape though because they have almost everything paid off. Jason is the kind of guy that he'll find something....it might be cutting wood or tree limbs but he'll find something to do. He's a hard worker.

I'm glad she's doing well. It can all be so stressful. Was Damon open to speaking with the Pastor? I hope he was and will really take to heart and mind what your Pastor has to say to him.

I hope through all of this that Dae Lynn is enjoying being a new Mother. She's in my prayers.
