4th of July
What are your plans? We are having a cook out with my stepdaughters and their families. The 4th is hubby's birthday so we will also have cake and ice cream. I don't know yet if we are going up to the city park to watch fireworks yet. I would like to buy some but you really can't get any good ones around here. We should've got some when we were in Tn. but didn't think about it at the time. I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th!

We usually just get a few fireworks and shoot them off out here, but this year no one wants to spend the money on them...lol. I doubt if we do anything special. We sometimes drive a little closer to town and sit along side the road to watch the fireworks the city shoots off. That we we don't have to fight the traffic. Other than that....it will probably be pretty dull here.
Hope you have a happy and safe 4th too and the same to everyone here.

I'm going to Oklahoma in the morning to my Aunt Marva's house. Her granddaughter is getting married and since I'm close to her I figured that I should go. Marva called today and they need servers so I guess that I'll be needed at the wedding!! Several of my cousins will be there so we'll have a good time I'm sure.
I WAS planning on coming back home early Sunday.....and we have an invitation to go to a Fourth of July party.....like we do every year.....but Glen balked at going.....so we really have NO plans. I'm pretty ticked off at him so I may just stay at Marva's until Monday. I invited him to go with me to Marva's and he balked at that too so he can just spend the weekend alone.......well, with the dogs anyway!!! He just doesn't want to do anything any more......and I get so tired of it. |

We will just spend the weekend getting the house back in order after having everything out of the two bedrooms. We'll probably end up grilling something on Sunday with the kids and driving out to watch some fireworks at the local baseball diamond - but that's about it. It is supposed to be rainy and cloudy all weekend - which is fine by me. It is usually wickedly hot over the 4th of July, so I'll take rainy and cloudy any time. But I do feel sorry for everyone who wants to be celebrating at the lake.

I had the kids yesterday and today. We were at the pool, and it was a hot sunny day...not a cloud in the sky! I'm going to the pool again tomorrow since it's going to be in the 90's. Jessie may bring the kids over again. They have such a great time in the pool!
There was a street fair today, but I missed it because I had the kids. I could go to the Festival tomorrow night for fireworks, but I don't know yet. I'm just enjoying having the family over so much. I complain when the kids are here a bit because 3 children are a lot of work, but I really love having them here. I also know that they won't always be young and so cute, nor will they want to hang out with Grandma so much, so I remind myself to cherish the moments with them. They really are very well behaved, although they don't get up to get things for themselves! I am having a sciatica flare up from running around getting them water, food, etc., etc. Mackenzie, on the other hand, cooked dinner last night. She is such a pleasure!!! Can you tell I'm a proud Grandma?

Enjoy those kids, Judy
My across the street brother Jim and sil Teresa took their camper to the local lake, so we went out there today for hamburgers. Their 2 kids, one dil and 2 little granddaughters were there. Also my other brother, his son and dil and their little boy were there. We are all together a lot, but it's always still fun! We may go back out there tomorrow for fireworks.

That sounds like a lot of fun, Betsi! Don't hamburgers taste so much better cooked at the campground!!! I bet you really had a good time.
We went to Luling, watermelon capital of central Texas. Gary has a friend with a truck garden and huge vegetable stand. We bought two black diamond melons, one for us and one for the kids. Then we got a yellow melon and another striped red melon that is supposed to be really good. If we eat all this melon, we'll turn into a melon! LOL!

Had to run some items out to my mother camping but other than that...I think we are just going to have some hamburgers on the grill. Wish we had some sweet corn to go with it.
Ricky got home from work early today so that is always nice.

Yummmm......that watermelon sounds good!! I love watermelon!!!
Glen ended up going with me to Marva's at the last minute. We went to Melissa's daughter's wedding. Alot of family was there so we left the wedding early so we could visit. The next morning almost all of the family left so there was just a few of us at Marva's. On Sunday afternoon we went to a couple of flea markets then we went and got things together to go to the fireworks display. Marva's church has a huge display for the Fourth!! It was the best display that we've ever seen and they played music while the fireworks were going off!! It was so cool!!! They also had blow up toys for the kids to jump on, pony rides, carriage rides, and a lot more to see but we didn't get there in time to do any of them. They also had a musical program inside of the church.....but again....we weren't there early enough to see it. On Monday we didn't leave until about noon. We had heard that home had a lot of rain so Glen wasn't in any hurry to get back. We took our time driving home. We stopped at a few flea markets and looked at a few rv's. We also took a scenic route to drive home. It was so nice to not be rushed and be able to enjoy just being together. We ended up getting home about 10 o'clock in the evening when it's only a 3 hour drive!!!! Oh well.......it was time well spent!!! |

Sounds like you had a great time Diana. I love to meander home and stop and shop or see things. I like it a lot better than rushing home and being so tired from driving.

It WAS nice to not have to hurry right home. Knowing that it had rained helped a lot. There really wasn't much for Glen to do when he did get home with everything muddy so we just enjoyed the day!!!
