A few years ago I went by a distant family's house to visit after a funeral and their home was dirty and so run down. Being there really made me appreciate everything that my Mom and Dad had done for me and so the next time I saw them I gave them a big hug and told them how much I appreciated all their hard work to provide us with nice things and a nice home. Besides working regular jobs my Mom and Dad built a car wash and ran it for years, had several rentals around town, was in charge of a newspaper delivery in our town, and many other jobs. They worked very hard. My Dad had grown up very poor and he swore that his kids would never live that way.

I said the same thing before Micah was born,, Mike is a wonderful worker, and he will be doing side jobs again this summer, if anyone has the money to spend on there houses, and i'm also a hard worker, I swore Micah will never wear used clothes like i had to, or used toys. i have one child and he will be spoiled to some degree, but he will understand it takes hard work to get these toys and extras that he wants...

I grew up in a 3 room apartment, which meant that I slept in the hall on a daybed. It was a pretty big foyer - I even had room for my dresser and mirror, and I had my own closet.
In the summer, I remember my Father putting a fan on a little table facing me so that I would be cool. I kept that table, and it's out on my deck right now. I had no privacy, but my Mother didn't think I needed any. She really wanted to know every single thing I did. That's why I was such a good liar! I was kind of spoiled. I didn't get braces, or piano lessons, but my mother always bought me new, fashionable clothes. Of course, I was never allowed to pick them out. She did that. My mother was very spoiled. She got clothes from the most fashionable shops, had a new car always, very expensive accessories, etc. Truth is - I would have given up the clothes, and shared my bed and dresser for a brother or sister. I have always missed that, and I always will. My mother was sick and couldn't have any children - she had me against the doctors' advice. I left home when I was 17, and at 19 I got my own place.
